Abstract

Background and Aims: Osteoporosis is a chronic disorder and there are multiple factors that lead to osteoporosis. with increasing age, the level of hormones (estrogen in women) decreases and reduces bone density and makes bones more fragile.. the aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between age and femoral bone mineral density in active women.

Method: 120 active women with an age of 35 to 85 years with medical records and clinical trials were selected at Milad Hospital in Tehran. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to find the relationship between age and femoral bone mineral density. SPSS software version 26 was used for data analysis.

Results: We found that the correlation coefficients between age and femur bone mineral density of active women was significantly decreased with age (35–50, 51–65, 66–85) (P≤0.05).

Conclusion: In conclusion, this study provides the impetus to continue developing alternative strategies to prevent hip fractures in older women. these data provide the scientific rationale to develop and implement femoral bone loss prevention strategies in this important target group. Our results suggest that physical activity is a crucial component of bone health maintenance.
