Study the physiological factors of active and inactive students in Mahabad city.

Abstract

purpose: The purpose of this research is to compare aerobic power, anaerobic power, body mass index and percentage of fat distribution of active and inactive obese and overweight students in Mahabad city. methods: The current research was a descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional research that was carried out in the field. The statistical population of the research consisted of 175 male students of the second year of high school (10th, 11th and 12th grade) of Mahabad city. To select the sample, 30 of them in the age range of 16-18 years were randomly selected. Physical activity was assessed using the Physical Activity Questionnaire of Adolescents (PAQ-C). Also, in this study, RAST test was used to measure anaerobic power and fatigue index.
Findings: The results showed that the body mass index is different in the active and inactive groups, and the body mass index of the active group is significantly lower than the body mass index of the inactive group. In addition, comparing the percentage of fat distribution showed a significant difference between the two groups. In this regard, the fat distribution percentage of the active group is lower than the inactive group. Also, the aerobic power and anaerobic power of the active group were significantly higher than the inactive group.
Discussion and conclusion: the results emphasize the need for more participation of students in sports activities; Because it will be a suitable solution to improve the level of health in the society and reduce the medical and clinical costs.
