Abstract
Obesity is one of the problems caused by imbalance in metabolism. .The aim of the present study is to investigate the rate of fat and carbohydrate oxidation during a session of increasingly exhausting exercise in obese men.
In this study, 15 obese men were selected as a sample and voluntarily participated by recall. The subjects performed an individualized incremental exercise test on a treadmill. Before measuring the main research indicators, anthropometric indicators and resting heart rate were measured and recorded during exercise. The subjects' respiratory gases were collected using a gas analyzer at baseline and on a treadmill until exhaustion. Inferential statistics (repeated measures statistical test) were used to analyze the data using SPSS version 22 software. The significance level in this study was considered to be less than 5%.
The findings of the study showed that in a session of progressive exhaustion, the mean and standard deviation of fat oxidation at the anaerobic threshold was -2.8±0.79 and -0.86±0.48 at the aerobic threshold, and the mean and standard deviation of carbohydrate oxidation at the aerobic threshold was 6.45±1.97 and 8.61±1.97 at the anaerobic threshold. There was also a significant difference between the rates of fat and carbohydrate oxidation in all stages following a session of progressive exhaustion in inactive(P≤0.001).
Conclusion:
Exercise probably has a positive effect on reducing cardiovascular risk factors, lipid disorders, insulin resistance, and glucose intolerance in inactive individuals. because it increases fat oxidation and improves the quality of life.
